Ridley Scott Gives 'Prometheus 2' And 'Blade Runner 2' Updates Oct 12th 2012, 19:00 Just in the time for the Blu-ray release of "Prometheus," director Ridley Scott spoke with Metro U.K. about his two proposed sci-fi sequels, a follow-up to his "Alien" prequel and the long-rumored second "Blade Runner." The filmmaker spoke candidly about the possibilities for the sequels, even openly talking about where a sequel to "Prometheus" would take us. " 'Prometheus' evolved into a whole other universe," Scott said. Read more of Scott's comments after the jump! It pleases us to no end that a "Prometheus" sequel would follow the further adventures of Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender's head. "You've got a person with a head in a bag that functions and has an IQ of 350," Scott said. "It can explain to her how to put the head back on the body and she's gonna think about that long and hard because, once the head is back on his body, he's dangerous. They're going off to paradise but it could be the most savage, horrible place. Who are the Engineers?" As for the "Blade Runner" follow-up, Scott talked about it as a certainty with Harrison Ford's involvement being the major question mark. "It's not a rumor – it's happening," he said. "With Harrison Ford? I don't know yet. Is he too old? Well, he was a Nexus-6 so we don't know how long he can live [laughs]. And that's all I'm going to say at this stage." We're sure he has been scolded enough times by mama Patty, manager Scooter, and the media, so let's switch it up and have some fun with this. It's time for a little game of, "What's wrong with this picture?" BTW JB, don't try to pull that "but I'm from Canada" line on us, mister! In some parts of Canada, the legal drinking age is 18, but in Justin's hometown (Ontario) it's 19. Just sayin. So what else is interesting about the famed photo? Lemme break it down for you. Photo: (TMZ) + He might not actually be playing beer pong. He could just be chillin' there, but if we're keepin' it real, the Biebz is in a near-perfect pre-shot stance. His slightly flexed right bicep suggests a firm grip on the ping-pong ball. His stern and steady facial expression means business. If Justin were my 21-year-old opponent at a weekend frat party, I would be verrrry afraid. Beer pong is a staple amongst young partygoers, but Dr. Henry Wechsler of the Harvard School of Public Health wants you to remember that, "Because the games encourage you to consume larger amounts of alcohol in shorter periods of time than in other social settings, they increase the risk of injury." If you're a fan of frat basketball, stay aware of how much beer you drink throughout the night...or be like me and never lose. + The guy on the far right looks way too old to be at the party Or maybe he's just buff. Kids are growing up scary quick these days! (Behold: two eighth graders.) But did you know that it is illegal to purchase alcohol for minors? Whoever bought these kids booze could have gotten into some real trouble if he were caught doing it. He might get fined hundreds of dollars, or hell, even face a possible lawsuit from angry parents. In certain states like Michigan, furnishing liquor to minors is considered a crime and if a minor dies from alcohol you supplied, you might receive a felony offense with a prison sentence. + He is wearing a backpack  We can't technically prove that Justin Bieber broke any drinking laws, but he's breaking all sorts of fashion laws wearing that backpack indoors. Or is wearing a backpack to parties cool now? All of the things that I was made fun of for in high school -- my backpack, my glasses, my straight-leg high-waisted jeans -- are suddenly hip. Ben Affleck May 'Live By Night' For Next Directorial Effort Oct 12th 2012, 20:00 With yet another rousing success as a director about to enter theaters, Ben Affleck the filmmaker has never found himself in a better position. Just one day before his best film to date, "Argo," opens in theaters, word has come down the line about what may be Affleck's next gig as a director. According to Deadline, Affleck is in talks to direct an adaptation of the recently published Dennis Lehane novel, "Live By Night." Learn more about the project after the jump! Though Affleck has a number of other projects in the works as a director, Deadline claims that it is Lehane's novel that has his interest now. Affleck began his career as a director helming another Lehane adaptation, "Gone Baby Gone." "Live By Night" is the second book of a proposed trilogy. The series' first installment, "The Given Day," was originally optioned by Sam Raimi, but that project didn't go very far. Today is the first ever International Day of the Girl, brought to us by the United Nations and awesome girls everywhere. What is the day all about? It was created to speak out against gender bias and advocate for girls' rights everywhere. The situation girls are in varies greatly around the world, and some facts might blow your mind. The Day of the Girl concentrates on a number of different issues that girls face worldwide, and we wanted to highlight a few of them for ya. We also have info about how you can make things better, cuz that's what this day is all about. + Education Only 30% of girls make it to secondary school. And by 2015, 64% of adults who can't read will be women. In some countries it costs money to go to school, and if a girl is poor or there is no school available, then she just doesn't receive an education. But getting an education makes such a big diff: it can break through sexist gender roles, help women earn more money and help the economy as a whole. Women who are better educated know how to protect themselves from diseases and can also control how many kids they have, if they decide they want kids. How you can help: You can ask your representative to co-sponsor the Education for All Act to help ensure even girls in poor countries get an education or get involved with the helpful group She's the First, which is all about girls' education in the developing world. You can also get involved with keeping kids in school in America through Get Schooled. + Human Trafficking mtvU's Against Our Will campaign is out there to fight human trafficking, and so is the UN. Since human trafficking happens to women as well as men, the fight against modern-day slavery is a big part of International Day of the Girl. Trafficking takes place all over the world, including right here in the United States. According to the Day of the Girl org, the average age an American girl is forced into commercial exploitation is between 12 and 14. And Against Our Will tells us that it's believed somewhere between 12 and 27 million people are enslaved globally. How you can help: You can help fight this by taking action with Against Our Will and raise awareness by listening to poems written by American survivors of trafficking. + Female Mutilation Most people don't realize that female genital mutilation (FGM) is done regularly in some countries, including many parts of Africa. There are different forms of FGM, and in one form the majority of the external female genitalia is cut off and stitched together so the girl has just enough room to use the bathroom and get her period. This is an extremely painful practice and it is typically done to young girls without pain medication or even sterile equipment. Part of the idea is to make sure women don't enjoy sex, and the cutting gives them health problems, from infection to painful childbirth to death. Blown away yet? Get this: it's estimated that up to 140 MILLION women have been genitally mutilated. How you can help: Learn more details about mutilation at DoSomething, including the different types and reasons the practice is happening, and get involved with orgs like Tostan and Equality Now to help end this women's rights violation. Watch Steven Spielberg And Daniel Day-Lewis' Lengthy 'Lincoln' Q&A Oct 11th 2012, 19:00 Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis are taking "Lincoln" to the streets. The pair recently held a 42-minute-long question and answer session in New York Wednesday that streamed on Yahoo! and in select theaters around the country. "They talked about everything and anything related to the upcoming movie, including Day-Lewis's initial hesitation to take on the project. "It seemed like such a preposterous idea to me, outlandish idea, to take on that work, so I fled," Day-Lewis recounted. "Reading Tony [Kushner]'s script, I could see objectively that it was something to be done by somebody else probably. I didn't honestly feel like I was capable of doing that work." Clearly that isn't the case. We've known since the first glimpse of Day-Lewis as Lincoln that he was the right man for the job and that Spielberg had picked well. Day-Lewis has a certain skill of dissolving into his roles, so we knew it wouldn't take long to no longer see the "There Will Be Blood" actor and instead only see Honest Abe. And we were right. The trailer for "Lincoln" shows that Day-Lewis has nailed the character of Lincoln, so it's funny to hear that he had so much hesitancy about taking the role. Since we doubt Spielberg dropped the ball on the telling of this story, "Lincoln" could end up being the most honest take on Abraham Lincoln's life story that we've ever seen on the big screen. Ashley Rickards On International Day Of The Girl: 'Stop Forced Child Marriage.' Oct 11th 2012, 19:05 Photo: (Getty Images) By Ashley Rickards What was your life like when you were 13? Did you hide out in your room a lot to read or listen to music? Did you go the mall with your friends so much that the mall cops and all the cashiers in the food court knew your name? Or did you scramble every night to clean up and make dinner for your husband in between nursing your newborn? Did that last one seem outrageous and weird to you? Good. Consider yourself lucky. What's shocking to you is real life for tens of millions of girls around the globe. 25,000 girls younger than 18 are forced to marry each day. Across the developing world, you're far more likely to see a teenage girl with a husband and children than with a diploma. If the only thing wrong with forcing a girl to marry was that it takes away her basic right to make her own decisions, that would be enough reason to object -- and loudly. But forced child marriage does so much more than that. It does major physical and emotional damage to the girls who suffer it. Girls forced to marry young are forced to have sex and get pregnant before their minds and bodies are ready. Girls who have babies at 15 or younger are five times more likely to die during labor than women in their 20s. And teens who don't die during birth often suffer fistulas, or the rupture of the wall separating the birth canal from the intestines. Even the girls who get by with their bodies in one piece pay a huge price. Girls forced to marry usually never go back to school. Without an education, and totally cut-off from their network of friends, their ability to ever make a living for themselves and their kids is severely diminished. Me writing about it and you reading about isn't going to magically fix anything. But a lot of people writing about it and lot of people reading it can. Today is the UN's first International Day of the Girl. It's part of a growing movement to advocate for girls' rights everywhere. For me it means to stop forced child marriage and empower girls to be whatever they choose to be. If we unite for girls around the world, the world leaders who have the power to help them are more likely to do the same. Please take a couple minutes to learn about ending child marriage, and use the #Unite4Girls hashtag on Twitter to tell everyone you know about this unfair practice. For the second domestic preview, Quentin Tarantino had our curiosity, and then he upped the spaghetti western. Now he has our attention. Skin Cancer Survivor Hillary Fogelson Is Pale & Proud Oct 11th 2012, 21:55 Photo: (thelistcollective.com) When Hillary Fogelson was 25, she was diagnosed with melanoma, the most deadly kind of skin cancer. She was diagnosed with it two more times (seriously)  but not only did she defeat it, she's written a book about it, "Pale Girl Speaks" and became an activist for skin cancer prevention. She def. won't be rocking a Snooki tan anytime soon and neither should you! "I've been called the sunscreen guru, the shady lady, the swimming ninja," wrote Hillary about her journey. "These titles I wear willingly and proudly because I have earned them...the hard way." This morning Hillary was on the "Today Show" and talked about ways we can take care of our skin. Her tips? +Get Naked With Your Doc  You need to get yearly skin checkups with your dermatologist and ask him to check your entire bod and not just sun prone areas. "You need to get naked. You need to take all of your clothes off, because they need to see your butt, they need to see your back, they need to see your scalp and your feet," she explained. +Invest In Sunscreen You Love Hilary talked to "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie about how people slather on sunscreen and get turned off by the heavy consistency or chalkiness of it all! No one wants to walk around with white stuff on their face but there are great sunscreens out there that go on your skin flawlessly. Like jeans, invest the time and money on quality sunscreen. +Keep A Simple Routine "If it's not simple we're not going to do it everyday and we're going to burn out," said Hillary. She keeps a sunscreen stick in her purse and a hat in her car. Bottom line: skin cancer prevention shouldn't be as complicated as Ronnie and Sammi. Hillary has set up a site called Pale Girl Speaks (obvi) that gives info on how to protect your skin and even ways to take action. If reading that melanoma is the most deadly kind of skin cancer scared you, keep in mind that melanoma is almost 99% treatable if you catch it soon enough. They need help raising money for the walk -- which has donated over $72 million to HIV programs and services in Los Angeles County since 1985. Jessica Lu and Jillian Rose Reed are offering some pretty cool prizes to those who do. Check it out below: "Please help me raise money so we can make sure that those living with HIV/AIDS are able to receive the care they need to survive," she explains on her Facebook page. Damn it, Jessica! You are so pretty that I want to hate you, but so nice that I can't. Jillian wants you to know that every donation counts: She's also giving her fab VMA dress to the person who makes the biggest contribution on her AIDS Walk LA page. Outside of donating, you can also register for the walk and maybe even hang with the "Awkward." cast in person!
